What are Mommy and Me portraits?
Mommy and me photo shoots are special, intimate sessions that feature a mother with her child or children. The results of the shoot can make great gifts for Dad, grandparents, godparents, friends or Mom herself. The photos can be given out over the holidays or as a “just-because” gift any time of the year. Mommy and me photography isn’t just for little ones; this specialized type of portrait photography can work wonderfully with children of any age.
All too often, Mom acts as just the photographer of family memories, always behind the camera, never in the photos. Mommy and me portrait photography sessions are an opportunity to change all that, allowing Mom to become an integral part of images that depict the loving, timeless bond between mother and child.
As a mother myself, I know how hectic life can be. We often lose sight of our own needs because the needs of our family over anything else. We prioritize taking care of our children, our husbands, the house, our finances and by and by, we start to forget that we need to take care of ourselves too.

I often find moms, like myself, want photos taken with their families. However, we hold the perception of the ‘perfect mother/woman’ in our heads and we ultimately pass on our desire to capture ourselves with our families.
I find myself empathizing with you in every way, however, thanks to my work, I realize the importance of capturing these moments for my children.
This is part of our legacy, your children and grandchildren are not going to care that your hair isn’t perfect, that you have extra pounds, or that you were frazzled and insecure the day of your session. They will only see the beauty that is their mother. They will look at this portrait long after you are gone and be thankful that you appreciated the importance of these images.
One of the most important messages you can send to your child is to have beautiful photos of the people you love most proudly displayed throughout your home. This will reaffirm to your child on a regular basis that they are so very loved, as well as set the example for them of self-love instead of self-loathing that is so commonplace in modern society.
As they grow and change you will love those images more and more. That great movie or dinner date with the family is a fun memory but not everlasting like photographs. Portraits are tangible memories that you will keep forever, passing them on from generation to generation.
