If you are looking for some quick tips to looking good in front of the camera, here we have listed the top 5. A few weeks ago I did a fashion editorial with teens in the Houston, and Dallas area and I found myself giving the same instruction to all. These tips will help anyone improve their look in front of the Camera.
1. Get Plenty of Sleep the Day Before
Sleep makes you feel better! You will have a more glowing complexion, and happier appearance. You will be able to be more focused, free flowing, creative, energetic, and calm. It can lower your stress levels. Remember that lack of sleep = stressed out look; frown lines, puffy or drooping eyes, and dehydrated skin. All things we can avoid with a little more Sleep!
2. Stay Away from Exhausting Activities Before Your Shoot
For example don't take your kids to the pool before your shoot. Try to arrive fresh. Exhausting yourself depletes your physical and emotional reserve. It may be a surprise that photography takes a little of both, so remember that and it will help you appear beautiful, fresh, and natural in front of the camera.
3. Plan Your Look Before the Shoot
Align your hair, make-up, outfit, and accessories to match the look you're going for. Start with an idea, maybe collect inspiring images from Pinterest. Use those to create coordinating colors, jewelry and hair styles. This is especially good for a Family Shoot. Communicate with family members or teammates whom you will be photographing with. Make sure everyone is on the same page. Keep in mind the location. Are you photographing by a lake? In your home? In a forest? In a studio? Have this all in mind as you make your selections.
. 4. Think of Natural Body Language for Posing
You can start this step in tip #3, where we talked about styling. Remember what style you're going for. After discovering that style/inspiration, use body language to communicate that image to the camera. Practice these gestures in front of the mirror. Some suggestions might be to smile, nod, romance, or be powerful all according to your plan. Be engaging. Think of having eye contact with the camera or spot your directed to look at. All these gestures will help give you natural body language for posing.
5. Groom Your Nails
This doesn't mean you have polish, gel, or acrylic your nails. They can be natural, but remember every detail counts.
